MDI Girls 73 Old Town 26

The MDI Girls were without two starters Tuesday night, January 6th, Sarah Phelps who was ill, and Molly Carroll who was away, and Old Town was without two players who had been injured during the season, Rachel Martin and Mikayla Richards. Old Town hung with MDI through the first half, but then the Trojan team steamrolled over Old Town, holding the Coyotes to just 3 points in the second half.

In the 1st Quarter MDI led 19-10. MDI received balanced scoring as Kelsey Shaw had 5 points, and Darcy Kanu, Sierra Tapley and Keeley McConomy each had 4 points for the Trojans. Brooke Mishou had 6 points for Old Town, while Lauren Martin had 4 points.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI took a 34-23 into the half, as Sierra Tapley hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Trojans. Old Town had the lead down to 4, but then Sara Norberg hit a 3-pointer, and that was as close the Coyotes would get for the rest of the night. In the 2nd Quarter Tapley had 6 points, McConomy 4 and Norberg 3. For Old Town Lauren Martin had 8 points, Kayla Madden had 3 points, and Brooke Mishou had 2 more points.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI held Old Town scoreless, outscoring the Coyotes 23-0 to take a 57-23 lead. Tapley had 13 points including a 3-pointer, Norberg had 5 points including a 3-pointer and McConomy had 3 points. while Kanu added 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Mariah Hamor scored her first varsity points for MDI, adding 4 points. Haley Littlefield had 5 points including a 3-pointer, and Abbe Miller had 5 points. Ali Bierman had 2 points for MDI. Old Town's lone points came as Brooke Mishou hit a 3-pointer.

MDI was led by Sierra Tapley, the Big East Girl's Player of the Week, who had a game high 23 points. Keeley McConomy had a season high 11 points, and Darcy Kanu and Sara Norberg each had 8 points. MDI went 10-14 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Lauren Martin with 12 points while Brooke Mishou had 11 points and Kayla Madden had 3 points. Old Town was 7-11 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 9-0 and plays at home against Washington Academy Thursday, January 8th. Old Town is now 3-7 and plays host to Hermon on Thursday, January 8th.
