Hermon Has Tough Time with MDI Girls
The MDI Girls Basketball team traveled to Hermon to take on the Hermon Hawks, Tuesday, January 8th and came away with a 55-27 victory. With the victory, MDI improved their record to 8-1 on the season, while Hermon fell to 3-4.
MDI led 14-5 after the 1st Quarter, 27-10 at the half, 34-15 after the 3rd Quarter, and outscored Hermon 21-12 in the 4th Quarter to come away with the 55-27 victory, in a gym that has always been tough for MDI to play, let alone win in. MDI’s game plan was to keep Raychel Alley in check, as she was leading the Big East in scoring through January 7th, averaging 17.60 points per game, and they did an effective job, limiting Alley to 12 points.
Alley was the leading scorer for Hermon, with 12 points, including 2 3′s and going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Hermon ended up 10-22 from the free throw line for the game. MDI was led by Hannah Shaw with 15 points. Sierra Myrick and Emily Lewis each hit 2 3-pointers and Sara Norberg had 1 3-pointer for the Trojans.
MDI’s next game is Monday, January 14th when they host the Old Town Coyotes. Hermon’s next game is Saturday, January 12th when they travel up to Caribou to play the Vikings.
