MDI Girls Double Up John Bapst 48-24
The MDI Girls outpaced the John Bapst Crusaders last night at Bernard Paradis Gymnasium, easily beating them 48-24.
The game started off slowly for the Trojans, as they missed a couple of easy shots early in the first minute and a half, and Coach Brent Barker called a time-out. Once the Trojans retook the court, they were off to the races, racing to a 7-0 lead with 4:30 left in the 1st, and there was only 2:56 left in the 1st Quarter before John Bapst scored their first point on a free throw, and at that time MDI was leading 14-1.
MDI wanted to control the pace of the game, and their tenacious defense allowed them to do so! MDI was leading by 17 at the half, just before John Bapst’s Jordan Turner hit a three, and at the half, MDI lead 29-15. MDI came out roaring in the 3rd quarter. They limited John Bapst to just 3 points in the 3rd Quarter and it was a 25 point Trojan lead with 2:51 left in the 3rd Quarter after the McDonald’s Player of the Game Sierra Myrick hit her third three pointer of the game.
In the fourth quarter it was all Trojans, as they lead by as many as 30 with 4:20 left in the game as Kelsey Shaw stole the ball and went the length of the court converting an easy layup.
MDI received balanced scoring, with Hannah Shaw leading the Trojans with 10 points. Jordan Turner was the leading scorer for John Bapst with 7 points. MDI improves to 2-0 on the season, and John Bapst falls to 1-1. MDI will play Bucksport on Thursday, December 13th in Bucksport.
