Old Town High School rode the pitching of Garvey Melmed and opened the season with a 12-2 win over Orono Tuesday afternoon.Melmed pitched the complete game allowing two runs on five hits while striking out 9 and walking just one.

Orono took a one nothing lead in the second inning on an rbi double from Kam Stokley but it would be short lived as the Coyotes tied it up an inning later when Kaleb Gifford singled in Eric Hoogterp. Old Town took the lead in the fourth inning and never looked back. Hoogterp, Zac Miller, and Tyler Young led the offensive attack with two hits each.

Next up for Old Town is a double-header against Caribou on Saturday, while Orono hosts Washington Academy on Thursday.
