The upset bid for the United States against number one ranked Argentina came up well short in a 4-0 loss to the South American side in the Copa America Centenario on Tuesday night.

The US came into the contest as underdogs and didn't give themselves any favors as Ezequiel Lavessi put the header home off of the pass outside the 18 yard box by Lionel Messi.  The first goal of the game came at just the three minute mark of the contest and would be the eventual winning goal.  Messi would add a tally of his own with a free kick strike at minute 32 before the end of the first half.  Striker Gonzalo Higuain would notch two more goals of his own in the second half to remove any remaining doubt.

The USA failed to record a single shot on goal and committed 13 fouls in the field during the game.  Argentina will now play in the championship match-up on Sunday against the winner of Columbia and Chile, while America will play in the third play game on Saturday against the loser of tonight's match-up.
