Maine Maritime Academy quarterback Corey Creeger came up inches short on a 4th down and goal play with 2:30 left in the game, ending the Mariners bid to keep the cup.

Massachusetts Maritime Academy wins 35-24 and leaves Castine with the 2017 Admiral's Cup. The Mariners had held the cup for the past two years.

Maine Maritime scored the first touchdown of the day but Mass Maritime outscored the Mariners 20-7 during the rest of the first half and led 20-13 at halftime.

In the second half, Maine Maritime got to within two points on a Corey Creeger one-yard TD rush but the two point conversion failed and Mass Maritime kept the lead at 27-25.

The Buccaneers (1-1) added an insurance TD to get their first win of the fall.

Maine Maritime drops to 0-2.

Creeger led the Mariners attack with 209 rushing yards and three TDs on 41 carries.

Richie Phillips led Mass Maritime with 146 rushing yards and a TD. Quarterback Chris Haggerty threw for 226 yards and a TD.

This was the 45th time the two schools have competed for the Admiral's Cup
