It has been talked about for several years and now it is going to happen. Husson University and Maine Maritime Academy will meet on the football field. The two schools made a joint announcement this afternoon.

The games will be non-conference games. The first game is in Castine on September 11th, 2021 and the second game in Bangor on September, 10th, 2022.

Husson leaves the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) after this season to join the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).

Maine Maritime spent its first year in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

The two schools are located about 36 miles apart and play each other in a variety of sports as North Atlantic Conference members but have never met on the gridiron.

"We are very excited about initiating football competition with Maine Maritime Academy in 2021. This will be an exciting event for both institutions as well as great exposure for small college football in Maine," said Husson Athletic Director Frank Pergolizzi.

"This is a great opportunity for student-athletes from both schools," said MMA Athletic Director Steve Peed. "We look forward to building an rivalry over the years".
