Maine Maritime Academy soccer player Christopher Gilman (Old Town, Maine) has been named North Atlantic Conference Man of the Year. The award is the highest honor given by the NAC to the student athlete who is distinguished in academic and athletic excellence, along with service and leadership.

Gilman graduated in May with a degree in Marine Systems Engineering and minored in mathematics.

He was a two year captain of the Mariners soccer team and collected 11 career points.

Gilman served as a student trustee on the MMA Board of Trustees.

MMA athletic director Steve Peed, in a press release, says Gilman is well deserving on the honor.

"He is a thoughtful leader with maturity and wisdom beyond his years...he excels in everything he does. Chris embodies all that is great about Division III."

The NAC will also name its 'Woman of the Year' winner, selected from eight finalists.
