In the end, Italy's Francesco Molinari was Mr. Steady on a wild final day at The Open. Steady enough to capture his first major title and the first-ever major title for his country.

The wind challenged the biggest names in golf - Spieth, Tiger, McIlroy and in the end Molinari shot a steady 2-under par 69 to win The Open by two shots.

The final day at Carnoustie saw Tiger Woods take the lead for a few moments.

Jordan Spieth, who started the day tied for the lead at 9-under par, do not card a single birdie all day.

Three of the four majors are now in the books. Next up, the PGA Championship in early August.
