The Minnesota State Mavericks (not Minnesota Golden Gophers) are the top seeded team in the NCAA Hockey Tournament. North Dakota, BU and Miami of Ohio are the other #1 regional seeds.

Only three Hockey East teams are in the 16-team field. BU, along with BC and Providence.

Six NCHC teams are in the field. One of them is UDenver, coached by former UMaine captain Jim Montgomery. His Pioneers (23-13-2) will play Boston College in the first round at the East Regional in Providence, R.I.
