Foxcroft Academy soccer and wrestling coach Luis Ayala accepted a $5,000 check for his school at a special assembly this morning. He is one of the top 15 vote getters in the 'Most Valuable Coach' program sponsored by U.S. Cellular and Samsung.

15 high school coaches from around the nation are being honored for 'going above and beyond' with their coaching and community service.

Ayala has been a teacher and coach at Foxcroft for 18 years.

The second and final phase of the contest is underway. Ayala or one of the 14 other finalists will receive a $50,000 Community Grant after online voting and a special panel of judges chooses the overall winner.

Online votes will determine 20% of the final score for each coach. The voting goes through November 14th.
