Motorists Advised To Stay Alert To Road Conditions Today

Road conditions today will depend on whether snow, rain, or a wintry mix is falling, so motorists are advised to stay alert and use caution while driving.

The forecast calls for anything from snow showers to freezing rain, depending on where you are in the state, and that can be dangerous for motorists who aren't paying attention to the shift in road conditions from one region to another. While Bangor is seeing light snow showers this morning, we're hearing reports of cars sliding off the road in the Machias area.

In East Machias, a tractor trailer slid off the road and clipped a couple of utility poles. That accident has knocked out power to over 4,000 customers in Washington County (and about 26 in Penobscot County). Emera Maine has crews working to restore power as quickly as possible.

As you drive through Maine today, stay alert to any changes in road conditions. Don't tailgate, give yourself plenty of room to stop, and allow for some extra time to get to your destination.
