As the Ray Rice situation continues to swirl out of control, the NFL has brought on former FBI Director Robert Mueller III to conduct an investigation into their handling of the case and its evidence.The league said the investigation will be overseen by New York Giants owner John Mara and Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney. Mueller will have access to all NFL records aid be aided by the Washington D.C. law firm of WilmerHale where he is a partner.

This announcement comes after the Associated Press reported that a law enforcement official said the Rice video was sent to the league offices and has a short voice mail from an individual at the league offices that they had received the video and that "it looked bad". Commissioner Roger Goodell maintains that the league never saw the video.

This President of the National Organization for Women, Terry O'Neil called for Commissioner Goodell's resignation on Wednesday and said the announcement of an investigation "is just window dressing"
