The No. 3 Narraguagus Knights enjoyed a big lead for most of the night against the Penobscot Valley Howlers and cruised to a 45-18 win and a trip to the state finals next Saturday in Augusta.

The Lady Knights set a fast pace from the tip, putting pressure on the the No. 4 Howlers, who were plagued by turnovers and missed shots throughout the Class C North final at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Kelli Kennedy led the Knights with 13 points. Kayla Toppin added 10 and Madison Leighton had 9.

It was a tough night for the Howlers, who failed to score a point in the third quarter and trailed by double-digits for the entire second half.

Samantha Ireland led the Howlers with 10 points.

It is the Knights' first-ever regional title. Narraguagus will play South champ Boothbay at 7:05 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 27 at the Augusta Civic Center.
