The MDI Trojans knocked off the #3 Hermon Hawks 3-1 Thursday afternoon in a terrific pitchers duel between Matt Perconti and Zach Nash.

The junior lefty Perconti was sharp, allowing just four hits, one walk and striking out six. He needed only 76 pitches to complete the seven innings.

Senior righty Zach Nash from Hermon struck out 11 MDI hitters and walked just one in his 100-pitch effort.

The key hit for MDI came in the 6th inning with the score tied 1-1 and two out. Mac Shea ripped a single down the leftfield line that score two runs.

The win puts the Trojans at 7-5 and in 9th place in Class B North. The Hawks fall to 10-3 and #5 in the standings.

The Hermon softball team beat MDI 14-2. Hailey Perry had four hits and Katie Windsor drove in five runs in the victory. The Hawks improve to 12-1, MDI falls to 4-8.
