It took over five hours to complete the game because of a rain delay but the wait was worth it for the University of Southern Maine. The Huskies beat Castleton 5-3 in the first round of the NCAA Regional in Syracuse, New York.

The nine inning game itself was played in a crisp 2-hours, 12-minutes. The rain delay was 3-hours long.

With the game tied 2-2, the Huskies grabbed the lead for keeps in the 6th inning when Andrew Olszak doubled in two runs. He had a 4-hit game.

Andrew Hillier drove in an insurance run in the the 7th. Hillier had a two hit day.

Matt Correale got the win in relief for USM. Jake Dexter pitched the final three innings to get his 12th save of the season.

The win puts the Huskies at 31-11 and in the winner's bracket game Friday.

Castleton, the North Atlantic Conference champ, drops to 34-9 and must win Friday to stay alive in the tournament.
