Historic Ritchie Field at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine is getting new carpet. The turf replacement project is well underway.

Ritchie Field has been around since the 1940s. It is named  in honor of Lt. Donald Ernest Ritchie, a member of MMA's first graduating class.

The first turf was put down in 1993 and was the first of its kinds in Northern New England.

An updated surface was put down in 2005 and now 13 years later another turf update.
