Nokomis vs Brewer Hoops On 92.9 The Ticket

22 days ago the Nokomis Warriors captured their first ever state championship in football. Tonight, several of those players take to the basketball court against Brewer. It's opening night for the hoops season.

Nokomis Warriors:  Coach Ryan Martin believes the football experience does nothing but help his players with confidence and big game experience. Several of his players from football will be in the starting lineup tonight including QB Andrew Haining and his C Andy Hopkins.

A year ago, the Warriors went 12-6 in the regular season are were a #2 seed in Class A North. But a lot of scoring punch graduated, including Zach Hartsgrove, who was the KVAC Player of the Year.

Brewer Witches: Coach Ben Goodwin brings a young team to Newport to face Nokomis. Seven of the 15 players are either freshman or sophomores. Senior Brandon Glidden, who quarterbacked the Brewer football team, will is a four year starter on the hardward.

A year ago, the Witches 7-11 and were the #8 seed the Class A tourney.
