Facing its biggest challenge of the season the University of Maine women's basketball team were out matched by North Carolina who took a 65-36 win.The Tar Heels entered the game as the #6 ranked team in the nation and dominated nearly every statistical category to not only get the win, but also end the Bears six game winning streak.

Sigi Koizar led Maine with 9 points and had 7 of the Bears 27 turnovers which UNC turned into 20 points. Maine was out scored in the paint 24-12 and out rebounded 43-34.

Going into the locker room at halftime the Bears were still in the game trailing by just 6 points. However in the second half the Tar Heels out scored UMaine 41-18.

Maine drops to 7-4 with the loss while UNC bounces back from their first loss of the season to improve to 10-1. Next up for Maine before their holiday break is a game at William and Mary on Sunday.
