UMaine hockey had Notre Dame in a 1-1 tie early in the third period, only to lose the game 4-1 Friday night.

After the Irish scored the game's first goal four minutes into the game, the Black Bears answered with an Andrew Tegeler goal. The score stayed that will until the third period.

Notre Dame scored two goals within a two minute span in the third and that was game, set and match. The Irish added an empty netter at the end.

Maine goalie Matt Morris made 39 saves. Notre Dame goalie Cal Petersen stopped 21.

The Black Bears fall to 4-11-2 in Hockey East, 7-18-6 overall.

The Irish are 13-2-2 and 17-5-7.
