Notre Dame finished a weekend sweep of the UMaine Black Bears Saturday night with a 5-1. The Irish scored the first five goals. Maine didn't get on the board until the final three miutes of the game.

The loss leaves the Black Bears at 4-12-2 in Hockey East (11th out of the 12 teams) and 7-19-6 overall.

Notre Dame improves to 14-2-2 and 18-5-7.

Black Bears goalies Matt Morris and Rob McGovern combined to make 30 saves. Cal Peterson stopped 40 for the Irish.

Four games remain on the UMaine schedule - next weekend a home series with Merrimack and then a weekend series at Northeastern.
