Nyquist Gets Olympic Call
Team Sweden Olympic hockey officials finally picked up the phone and called Gustav Nyquist. They want him on the Olympic hockey team that’s headed for Sochi later this week.
The 24-year-old former Maine Black Bear replaces the injured Johan Franzen and will join five other Detroit Red Wing players who will compete for Team Sweden.
Nyquist scored his first NHL hat trick Sunday afternoon against Wasington. He has 13 goals and 9 assists for the Wings.
His teammate and another former Black Bear Jimmy Howard will play for Team USA.
