Apparently it's Gustav Nyquist's world and we are all just living in it. Just hours before 'Nyquist' the horse won the Kentucky Derby, 'Nyquist' the player for Team Sweden scored the overtime goal to give Sweden a 2-1 win over Latvia at the IIHF World Championships in Russia.

Nyquist plays in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings but plays for Team Sweden at the World Championships.

He had five shots on goal in that win over Latvia.

Nyquist was a standout player for UMaine hockey for three seasons berfore turning pro.

Nyquist and his Team Sweden play Denmark today in their pool play in Russia.

UPDATE: Nyquist scored another goal in Sunday's 5-2 over Denmark.
