Gustav Nyquist has waived his right to have an in-person hearing in front of NHL officials regarding his high stick to the face penalty against Minnesota on Sunday.

Nyquist is a former UMaine Black Bear and now in his 6th season with the Detroit Red Wings. He has never been suspended by the league.

But, because the NHL offered an in-person hearing, the suspension is likely to be a minimum of six games.

Nyquist will state his case during a phone hearing today and the decision should come later today.

The Red Wings play St. Louis tonight and the decision will come down before that game.
