The Detroit Red Wing Maine connection helped to do in the Boston Bruins last night. Gustav Nyquist scored the game winning goal and Jimmy Howard made 16 stops in goal as the Wings beat the Bruins 2-1.

It was the season opener for Detroit while the B's were playing the second game on back-to-back nights.

The Bruins seemed sluggish all night. In fact, the B's never got a shot on goal until 12 minutes into the game. They managed only 17 shots on Howard. Patrice Bergeron scored the lone goal.
