Last August when Red Sox manager John Farrell made his first trip to the hospital for cancer treatments, Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona drove him there. It just happened that the Indians were in Boston for a three game series.

The two men have been intertwined with Boston baseball for more than a decade. Farrell was Tito's pitching coach. Farrell left Boston to manage Toronto. Tito and Sox management had a nasty divorce. The Sox brought Farrell back to Boston as manager.

Somehow, it's seems appropriate that the two guys manage against each other in today's season opener at 4pm.
