NESN play-by-play man Don Orsillo is headed to San Diego to call Padres games and will eventually take over for the legendary Dick Enberg.

ESPN.com is reporting the Padres will make the announcement in a week or so.

The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting the team has been courting Orsillo since the word came down that Enberg plans to retire after the 2016 season.

The Padres want to sign Orsillo to a long term deal and there may be some national Fox games to call as part of the package.

Orsillo has seven more games to call this week. NESN decided that were not going to renew is contract. Dave O'Brien will take over NESN play-by-play duties next year.
