In what is becoming a yearly tradition, David Ortiz and the Boston Red Sox have reportedly agreed on a one contract extension.Several reports out of Boston say the two sides have agreed on a one year deal that will pay him $16 million dollars. The extension provides Ortiz with a raise over the $15 million he will make this season. Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston reports that the deal also includes a club vesting option based on certain performance numbers. If those are reached, Ortiz will be a member of the Red Sox until 2017 when he will be 42 years old.
