The Great Danes started off the scoring in the first quarter with a field goal, but that was quickly answered by a 49 yard touchdown pass to Micah Wright from Dan Collins to put the Black Bears up for good. Albany would force a Maine safety on a botched punt play in the second before another long passing touchdown, this time of the 40 yard variety to Earnest Edwards to put the Black Bears up 13-3 at the time.
