After an off season of celebrating a Super Bowl and fighting deflategate, the New England Patriots begin a new season tonight against the Steelers.The Pats will raise their championship banner prior to kicking off against Pittsburgh, a team they have played each other to open a season four times with the last time coming in 2002 when the Pats opened Gillette Stadium. New England won that game 30 to 14.

The Steelers have dominated the regular season series holding a 14-9 advantage, while the Pats are 3-1 against Pittsburgh in the postseason.

The Pats have been nearly automatic in home openers in the Bill Belichick era with their last home opening loss coming in 2001 against the New York Jets.
