The New England Patriots are winners on opening day, although the Houston Texans made it interesting in the final moments.

The Patriots win 27-20, scoring 21 first half points but only six in the second half.

Tom Brady hit Rob Gronkowski on a 21-yard touchdown pass to get the scoring started.

Brady then hit James White for a 12-yard TD pass and a 4-yard TD pass to Phillip Dorsett.

The Texans could only manage field goals in that first half and it was 21-6 at halftime.

The Patriots just two Steven Gostkowski field goals in the second half, from 39 and 35 yards out.

Meanwhile, Houston's offense got untracked with a run TD and a pass TD.

The Texans had the ball last but could not score in the final seconds.

Tom Brady's day - 26-for-39 for 277 yards, three TDs and one interception.

Gronk was the leading receiver with seven catched for 123 yards and a TD.

Rex Burkhead was the lead rusher with 64 yards on 18 carries.
