The New England Patriots leading tackler, linebacker Jerod Mayo, has been place on the NFL Injured Reserve List ending his season. The Patriots captain had 55 tackles before getting injured Sunday in the New Orleans game.
Media reports from Boston and NFL sources says Mayo had surgery for a torn pectoral muscle. The team is not commenting on that, only saying that he has been place on the IR.
Mayo’s season ending injury is the second major loss to the Patriots defense. Lineman VInce Wilfolk went down with a season ending achilles injury two weeks ago.
