Patriots Put Franchise Tag On Gostkowski

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the New England Patriots will use their franchise tag on kicker Stephen Gostkowski, meaning he will earn about $4.125 million next season.

He has been with the Patriots since 2006 and was the NFL's leading scorer in 2014 with 156 points.

The team tagged former kicker Adam Vinatieri twice while he was a Patriot.

The talk for several weeks has been that either Vinatieri, Devin McCourty or perhaps Darrelle Revis might get the franchise tag.
