The New England Patriots will waive tight end Tim Wright after one season, according to multiple league sources.

Wright was trade of the Logan Mankins trade with Tampa Bay just before the season started last year.

He played in every game, 26 catches, 6 touchdowns and 259 yards.

Wright became expendable when the Pats signed free agent TE Scott Chandler from Buffalo. Chandler will back up Rob Gronkowski.

Wright is seen as a hybrid tight end and receiver type player.
