Pats Extend Cannon With 5-Year Deal

The New England Patriots and offensive lineman Marcus Cannon have agreed to a five-year contract extension that will keep him with the organization through the 2021 season, according to Mike Reiss and Field Yates of ESPN.

Cannon was a fifth round draft pick by the Patriots in 2011 and has played in 75 career games with New England.  The contract will take him up to his 33-year-old season.

Cannon was set to become a free agent at the end of the 2016 season and reportedly make $6.6 million a year on average, a step up from his current $4.5 million in 2016.

The Patriots are currently 9-2 on the season and will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon.
