Pats LB Mayo Placed On Injured Reserve

Two pieces of news on the Patriots vs Broncos AFC title game coming up on Sunday. Linebacker Jerod Mayo is done for the playoffs and the head referee for the game will be Ed Hochuli.

First the Mayo story. He injured his shoulder in the third quarter of Sunday's KC game. By placing him on the injured reserve list, the Patriots are saying he would not be recovered in time to play even in a Super Bowl game. The team has a spot to fill on the 53-man roster.

Then the Hochuli story. Ed Hochuli is one of the most high profile refs in the NFL. He worked two other Patriots games this year - the NY Giants game and the Miami game at the end of the season.
