He was expected to return from injury and make an impact on the New England Patriots defense this season. Instead Tommy Kelly is looking for another team to play for.Multiple reports out of Boston say the Patriots have cut three players including defensive lineman Tommy Kelly who missed most of last season with a knee injury. Kelly played the first five games making 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Many believe the move was made as the team switches to a 3-4 defense reducing the need for him inside with the healthy return of Vince Wilfork. The team will save 1.2 million under the salary cap with his release.

Also getting their walking papers are defensive end Will Smith and linebacker James Anderson who both signed free agent deals in the off season. Both also played limited snaps through the first three preseason games.

Teams have to cut their roster to 75 players on Tuesday and the maximum 53 by Saturday the 30th.
