Jack Peavy's second start in a Red Sox uniform did not go so good...He threw 58 pitches in the first two innings in Kansas City. He then got staked to a 6-3 lead but couldn't hold it. When the turned out the lights in KC the Royals had a 9-6 win and Peavy told reporters "I take the blame for this one."

The key inning was the sixth. Sox leading 6-3 but KC sent 11 batters to the plate. Peavy could not get anyone out and in came young lefty Drake Britton who added gasoline to the fire.

Peavy actually ends up with a no decision, Britton took the loss.

SOX NOTES: Dr. Mickey Collins (Hermon HS, USM) is one best specialists on concussions and he has given the green light to Sox catcher David Ross to resume baseball activity. He could begin a rehab stint this weekend with the Portland Seadogs.

Speaking of the Seadogs, lefty pitcher Henry Owens made his second Double-A start at Hadlock Field Friday night. The Dogs lost the game 9-7 as Owens pitched the first four innings, striking out eight and walking just one. Owens allowed 2 runs on 4 hits. After throwing 90 pitches he was out of the game.
