The Penobscot Valley Howlers ousted the top-ranked Fort Fairfield Tigers Friday afternoon, earning a spot in the Class C North final in Bangor on Saturday.

No. 4 Howlers opened up a double-digit lead late in the fourth quarter, and withstood a late Fort Fairfield run on their way to a 47-34 win.

Senior Samantha Ireland led the Howlers in scoring with 15 points. Amy Hallett had 12 points for the Howlers before fouling out with 2:29 to go. Junior Elizabeth McKinnon added 11 points.

Seniors Chelsey Pelkey and Kayla Giberson each finished with 9 points for the Tigers.

Penobscot Valley will take on the Narraguagus Knights for the regional championship at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
