The UMaine Black Bear football team is in game week mode now. The season opener is Saturday at Norfolk St in Virginia. The Maine football program begins the 2013 season just two wins shy of 500 all time.

The schedule features four out-of-conference games before the eight CAA conference games. Two of the games are against FBS teams - UMass and Northwestern.

The Sports Network reports that two Black Bear players (TE Justin Perillo and CB Kendall James) are on the watch list for the Senior All Star Bowl to be played in January. Perillo had 30 receptions / 5 touchdowns last season. James had 45 tackles / 3 interceptions last year.

Here's the complete Sports Network Watch list of FCS players...

The annual postseason all-star game will be held on Jan. 25 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

The watch list includes more than 400 student-athletes from nearly every level of college football. A player not on the initial list can be added to the list during the season.
