Philippines 1st Of 10 Regional Winners For SLWS

The Senior Little League baseball team from the Philippines will represent the Asia-Pacific region at next month's World Series in Bangor - the first of 10 teams that will play from August 11th through the 17th at Mansfield Stadium. The Senior League level is age 14-16.

After going 4-0 in pool play, the Philippines team defeated New Zealand 4-1 in the regional semi-final and then beat CNMI 7-6 in the championship game.

A team from the Philippines last represented the Asia-Pacific Region back in 2011.

The Maine District #3 championship team will be one of the 10 teams in World Series play. That tournament begins later this month.
