The Piscataquis Pirates advanced to the semifinal with a convincing win over the No. Woodland Dragons on Wednesday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The No. 3 Pirates, of Guilford, steadily built their lead throughout the contest leading 23-10 at the half and 40-15 after three quarters. When the buzzer sounded, Piscataquis left with a 53-21 win.

Junior Erin Speed led the Pirates with 21 points. Sophomores Alivia Hunt and Sara Almirante, an exchange student from Spain, added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Piscataquis improves to 15-4 and earns a date with the winner of the Wednesday quarterfinal between George Stevens Academy and Calais.

Junior Jennie Cox had 9 points for the Dragons. Sadie Smith added 8 points/

Woodland ends its season at 12-8.
