Police: Bucksport Man Used Threats in Attempt to Extort Sex

A Bucksport man is facing a felony charge after allegedly threatening a local woman in an attempt to force her to have sex with him.

Justin D. Wingate, 33, was arrested Tuesday and charged for Attempted Gross Sexual Assault.

Earlier this month, police were made aware that a local woman was being threatened by an unknown individual while online. The individual was demanding a sexual encounter with the victim and used threats and intimidation with intent to make the victim comply with the demands, according to police.

Detectives took over Internet communication with the suspect and eventually were able to identify Wingate as the man behind the threats.

Wingate was taken into custody without incident.
