This is the day many in New England wait all winter for. The day Boston Red Sox pitchers and catchers officially open spring training in Ft. Myers Florida.

Even though the majority of the players have been working out at Jet Blue Park for the better part of the last three weeks, today is the day that coaches start putting them through drills and begin the process of rounding the staff into form for the new season.

The big attention getter is the arrival of starter David Price who signed with the Sox in the off-season and will be the ace of the staff, something they lacked last season.

Also new to the team this season is the addition of closer Craig Kimbrel and the return of Koji Uehara who missed a large portion of last season with an injury.

Position players are expected to arrive on Tuesday and begin full workouts on Wednesday with the first preseason game taking place on Tuesday the 29th against Boston College.
