For the first time in the 15-year history of the Senior League World Series at Mansfield Stadium, a team from Puerto Rico will represent Latin America.

The team for Roberto Clemente Little League in Carolina, Puerto Rico won the championship this weekend, beating Curacao 3-0 in the title game. The team from Puerto Rico went 6-0 in the 10-team regional.

The Latin America regional champ has always done well at the Bangor SLWS, winning five world series titles.

Eight more regionals around the world will be held in the coming weeks. Plus, the local Maine District #3 tournament is held to determine a host team for the 2016 SLWS.

The international event at Mansfield Stadium begins July 31st. The event features baseball players aged 14 through 16.
