Entering their class A preliminary game the Brewer Witches were on a six game losing streak. They picked the right time to get back on track with a 60-48 win over Mt. Ararat.Brewer had not made a postseason appearance since 2010 but the inexperience did not show as junior center Matt Pushard scored 17 first half points on his way to a game high 26 point effort. Pushard also pulled down 14 rebounds and went 7-10 at the free throw line.

Mt Ararat won the regular season match-up by 29 points and took an early lead in this game before Brewer grabbed an eight point lead at halftime. The Eagles battled back to take a brief lead in the second half until the Witched pulled away thanks to a key three point shot from Jamison Rhodes-Doyle who came off the bench to go 6-6 at the line and finish with 10 points.

Brewer advances to the quarterfinals and will play number one seed Edward Little Saturday night at 9:30.
