The Ledges in York will be the host site as many of Maine's best amateur players tee it up for the chance to play in the national amateur championship later this summer.

Plus, there will be several out-of-state amateurs gunning for the two spots available.

Maine golfers include Ricky Jones(Thomaston), Sam Grindle(Deer Isle), Andrew Slattery(Minot), Drew Powell(Bangor), Gavin Dugas(Pittsfield), Joe Alvarez(North Berwick),Reese McFarlane(Cape Elizabeth).

The U.S. Amateur tournament will take place in Olympia Fields, Illinois next month. The winner of that tourney gets to play in next year's Masters Tournament.
