The top seeded Bangor Rams got solid pitching from Justin Courtney and just enough offense in a  6-3   win over Brunswick in the class A quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.

Courtney went the distance on the mound for the Rams, his 5th complete game of the season. He stuck out 8 and did not walk a batter. Andrew Hillier had 2 hits and 2 rbi at the plate for Bangor. Bangor fell behind in the second inning after a couple errors by the defense allowed the Dragons to plate 2 runs. Despite five errors in the game, Bangor came back to earn the win and a match-up against #4 Cony in the semifinals Saturday at Mansfield Stadium.

The Bangor softball team also worked a come-from-behind win with a 9-5 victory over their rival Brewer Witches. Brewer took a 5-2 lead in the fourth inning but the Rams chipped away at that lead and exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead for good on a 2-run single by Alexis Hafford. Cordelia Stewart paced the Rams offense with three hits and an rbi. Bangor will go on the road for their semifinal game Saturday against the Skowhegan Indians.
