John Lackey gave up a season high 5 earned runs and the Red Sox offense went flat after a first inning David Ortiz home run. The end result - a 5-3 loss down in Tampa Bay.

Lackey was dominate in the first two innings then struggled through the third and fourth innning before eventually leaving with one out in the fifth. Lackey gave up nine hits.

Big Papi hit a 3-run homer in the first inning but after that the Sox managed just one hit. You are not going to win many games with offense like that.
