The Red Sox have acquired pitcher Colten Brewer from the San Diego Padres in exchange for minor league infielder Esteban Quiroz.

The Red Sox announced the move on Tuesday.

Brewer had a 5.59 ERA in 11 appearances as a rookie with the Padres last season. The 26-year-old had a 3.75 ERA over 48 innings of work in Triple-A in 2018.

Quiroz, also 26, spent several years in the Mexican League before joining the Red Sox organization one year ago. He started at second base for the Mexican team in the World Baseball Classic.

Quiroz batted .283 with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs in 24 games with the Double A Portland Sea Dogs last season.
